Giants of the Hoods on kaupunkitaideprojekti, joka etsii paikallisia erityispiirteitä ja kulmakuntien jättiläisiä.. Osallistavissa katutapahtumissa luodaan ja tanssitetaan digitalisoituja  jättiläishahmoja, jotka projisoidaan suoraan kaupunkitilaan pimeän aikaan.

Osallistu osumalla paikalle, tuunaa urbaanista jätistä näköisesi ja saata liikkeesi mahtimittoihin DJ Magic Samin ja Dijckanin siivittämänä.

Huudeilla syntyneet Jätit kohtaavat toisensa leikkisässä tanssiskabassa Lasipalatsin aukiolla 4.9.

Finaalibatleen voi ilmoittautua etukäteen giantsofthehoods [at] gmail.com tai Lasipalatsin aukiolla saman päivän aikana paria tuntia ennen battlen alkamista.

Giants of the Hoods reclaims the streets and turns them into scenes of dancing people, animated giant characters, and collective neighborhood activity in Helsinki. The events take place as part of the Media Facades Festival.

Giants of the Hoods is a street event open to all passersby and local citizens. It takes place in three nights each time in a different neighborhood of Helsinki area – Kallio, Kontula, and Tapiola. A closing event that gathers the experiences together in a playful dance battle is organised in Kamppi (Lasipalatsi square). For exact times and dates see the right column of this page.

The Media Facades Festival explores networked possibilities of urban screens and media facades via internet and new technologies on a European level. The festival cities are Berlin, Brussels, Helsinki, Liverpool, Linz, Madrid, and Budapest. Giants of the Hoods is also part of the Helsinki Festival (Helsingin juhlaviikot) programme.
